## What is it?

The Claude desktop app uses a small Linux virtual machine as a sandbox for running code and working with files in some features. Its disk images live in `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/vm_bundles` and take about 10 GB.

## What happens if you delete it?

Claude recreates the virtual machine the next time a feature needs it, which takes a few minutes and a download. Your conversations are stored in your account, not here.

## How to remove it properly

Quit Claude, then move the folder to the Trash in Finder (Go › Go to Folder… `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/vm_bundles`).

## Before you delete it

Files created inside the sandbox that you did not save elsewhere may be lost.
