## What is it?

A manual (git) install of ComfyUI in your home folder stores models in `~/ComfyUI/models`, grouped by type: checkpoints, LoRAs, VAEs, text encoders, upscalers and more. Each model is typically 2–25 GB, so the folder often reaches hundreds of GB.

## What happens if you delete it?

Not automatically. Public models can be downloaded again by hand, but some sources disappear, and workflows that reference a missing file stop working.

## How to remove it properly

Quit ComfyUI, then move individual model files you no longer use to the Trash. To keep them, move them to an external drive and add that folder to `extra_model_paths.yaml` so ComfyUI still finds them.

## Before you delete it

Your own trained LoRAs and merges are only here unless you backed them up.
