## What is it?

Flutter writes compiled output for each platform (iOS, Android, macOS, web) to a `build` folder next to `pubspec.yaml`. It often reaches several GB, especially with Android and iOS builds. Only folders in projects untouched for 30 days are considered.

## What happens if you delete it?

The next `flutter run` or `flutter build` recompiles everything, which takes several minutes the first time.

## How to remove it properly

Run `flutter clean` in the project (it removes `build` and `.dart_tool` permanently), or move the `build` folder to the Trash in Finder.

## Before you delete it

Copy any release builds you want to keep, such as an `.apk`, `.aab` or `.ipa`, out of `build` first.
