# Can I delete the TV folder in Movies on my Mac?

## What is it?

The Apple TV app’s media folder: films and shows you downloaded, plus any home videos you imported into the app. HD and 4K downloads take several GB each.

## What happens if you delete it?

Purchased films and shows can be downloaded again from Apple; imported home videos exist only here unless you have a backup.

## How to remove it properly

In the TV app, open Library › Downloaded, right-click an item and choose Remove Download. Optimize Storage in System Settings › General › Storage can also remove films and shows you have already watched. Do not delete the folder in Finder.

## Before you delete it

Imported home videos are your own files: move them to an external drive rather than deleting them.
