## What is it?

Every Unity project has a `Library` folder next to its `Assets` and `ProjectSettings` folders. It is Unity’s cache of imported assets, compiled scripts, shader caches and package data, and it is not meant for version control. Only folders in projects untouched for 30 days are considered. It often reaches several GB.

## What happens if you delete it?

Unity re-imports all assets and rebuilds the folder the next time the project is opened, which can take from a few minutes to hours for large projects. Your assets and scenes are not affected.

## How to remove it properly

Close the project in Unity, then move its `Library` folder to the Trash in Finder.

## Before you delete it

A few editor preferences, such as the last opened scene and window layout for that project, may reset.
