## In short

- Alerts are off until you turn them on: Settings › General › Alert me before my disk fills up, or the same switch in Storage Weather. macOS then asks for permission.
- Three alerts only: your disk is almost full (at most every 3 days), a folder grew by 10 GB or more in a day (at most weekly per folder), and a weekly summary when 5 GB or more can be freed.
- Turn them off with the same switch, or in System Settings › Notifications › MoreRoom. Never scare messages.

## How to turn on alerts

1. **Find the switch.** Open MoreRoom › Settings… › General, or Storage Weather in the sidebar.
2. **Turn on Alert me before my disk fills up.** macOS asks whether MoreRoom may send notifications. Click Allow.
3. **Keep MoreRoom running.** Alerts come from MoreRoom’s background measurements, which run while MoreRoom is open. Turn on Open at login, in the menu bar to get them with the window closed.

## The three alerts

MoreRoom sends rare, useful alerts — never “your Mac is at risk”.

| Alert | When | How often, at most |
|---|---|---|
| “*Disk* is almost full” — “Only *size* left. MoreRoom can show you what’s safe to remove.” | Free space drops under 10% of the disk or under 20 GB, whichever is larger | Once every 3 days |
| “*Folder* grew by *size* today” — “That’s unusually fast.” | A watched folder grew by 10 GB or more in a day | Once a week per folder |
| “*Size* can be freed safely” — with the forecast when there is one | Your last scan found 5 GB or more labelled “Safe to remove” | Once a week |

Click an alert to open MoreRoom: the first and third open **Free Up Space** (scanning first if needed), the second opens **Storage Weather**.

## Turn alerts on

Turn on **Alert me before my disk fills up** in **MoreRoom › Settings… › General** or at the bottom of **Storage Weather**. The first time, macOS asks whether MoreRoom may send notifications: click **Allow**. If you don’t, the switch turns itself off again.

Alerts depend on Storage Weather’s measurements, which only run while MoreRoom is open. To get alerts with the window closed, also turn on **Open at login, in the menu bar**.

## Turn alerts off

Turn off the same switch. You can also manage MoreRoom’s notifications like any app’s in **System Settings › Notifications › MoreRoom**: allow or block them, choose banners or alerts, and whether they play a sound.
