## In short

- Uninstall Apps, in the sidebar, lists your apps with their real size and when you last used them. Click an app to see what it left in your Library.
- Untick anything you want to keep, click Uninstall, then Move to Trash. The app and its leftovers go to the Trash together: one Undo puts everything back.
- Apps that are part of macOS can’t be removed. App Store apps and apps installed for all users may need your administrator password.

## How to uninstall an app

1. **Open Uninstall Apps.** Scan your Mac, then click Uninstall Apps in the sidebar. Sizes fill in after a few seconds.
2. **Find the app.** Type in Search apps, sort by Size, Name or Last Used, or tick Unused for 6 months.
3. **Check what it left behind.** Click the app. MoreRoom lists its leftovers — caches, settings, containers, logs — with their size. Untick anything you want to keep.
4. **Uninstall.** Click Uninstall, then Move to Trash (or Quit and Move to Trash if the app is open).

## The list

**Uninstall Apps** shows every app you can remove, with:

- its icon, name and version, and an **App Store** tag for apps from the Mac App Store;
- a **Running** tag when the app is open;
- when you last used it (“Last used 3 months ago”, or “Last use unknown”);
- its size on disk.

Use **Search apps**, sort by **Size**, **Name** or **Last Used**, or tick **Unused for 6 months** to find apps you no longer need. The refresh button reloads the list after you install or remove apps elsewhere. The note at the bottom counts the apps that are part of macOS: they can’t be removed.

## What “leftovers” are

Click an app: MoreRoom looks for what it left in your Library — caches, preferences, application support files, containers, logs and similar — and lists each item with its kind, path and size. Everything is ticked by default:

- **Untick** what you want to keep (for example a folder of settings you might reuse).
- Items marked **Needs an administrator** belong to the system and can’t be ticked: they’re skipped.
- “Nothing left behind outside the app” means the app keeps everything inside itself.

The total at the bottom is what you’ll get back.

## Uninstall

Click **Uninstall**. MoreRoom asks: “Uninstall *App*?” — “*App* and *n* items it left behind go to the Trash. You can put them back with Undo or from History.”

- If the app is open, the button reads **Quit and Move to Trash**: MoreRoom asks the app to quit first (it may ask you to save your work). If it doesn’t quit, nothing is moved.
- Apps owned by the system — most **App Store** apps and apps installed with an installer package — are moved by Finder, which may ask for your administrator password.
- The app is moved first. If it can’t be moved, none of its data is touched.

A message confirms “*App* uninstalled · *size* freed”, with **Undo**.

## Two copies of the same app

If two copies of an app are installed — for example Xcode and Xcode-beta — they share the same data in your Library. MoreRoom then removes **only the app you chose** and tells you so, so the other copy keeps working.

## Undo an uninstall

Press `⌘Z`, click **Undo** in the message, or click **Restore** in **History**: the app and all its leftovers go back where they were. This works until you empty the Trash.

## Good to know

- Apps from the App Store can be downloaded again at any time from your purchases.
- Some apps install helpers in system folders that only an administrator can change; those are listed as **Needs an administrator** and left in place.
