The short answer
Usually, after a check. Might hold something you care about. Look inside before removing it.
What is it?
Ollama runs large language models locally and stores them in ~/.ollama/models, as shared layers (blobs) and per-model lists (manifests). Each model is typically a few GB to tens of GB, depending on size and quantisation.
Local language models (2-70 GB each). Remove the ones you don't use; ollama pull downloads them again.
What happens if you delete it?
A removed model is downloaded again with ollama pull <model> or the next time you run it, which can take a while on a slow connection. Custom models you created with a Modelfile need to be created again.
How to remove it properly
Run ollama list to see installed models and ollama rm <model> to delete one, permanently. Removing models through Ollama keeps shared layers consistent; deleting single files inside blobs by hand can break other models.
Use the tool’s official command: ollama rm <model>
Before you delete it
Models you imported or built yourself with ollama create may not be downloadable again; keep their source files.
How MoreRoom helps
MoreRoom recognises this item and labels it “Review first”: it shows what’s inside, its size and last use, so you can decide. Nothing is removed without your say, and everything goes to the Trash first, with Undo.
When the tool is installed, MoreRoom runs its official command for you (ollama rm <model>) instead of deleting files — and tells you that this step can’t be undone.
