The short answer

Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.

What is it?

~/Library/Caches/Google holds one folder per Android Studio version with its indexes of your projects and libraries, local history, logs and other caches. Folders of versions you updated from are no longer used at all. Together they often reach several gigabytes.

Indexes and caches of every Android Studio version. Rebuilt when a project is opened.

What happens if you delete it?

Android Studio rebuilds its indexes the next time you open a project, which keeps the IDE busy for a few minutes. Local history (Android Studio’s own record of recent edits) is lost; your project files are not touched.

How to remove it properly

Quit Android Studio, then move the AndroidStudio… folders in ~/Library/Caches/Google to the Trash with Finder’s Go › Go to Folder…. For the current version only, File › Invalidate Caches… does the same from inside the IDE.

Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.

How MoreRoom helps

MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
