The short answer
Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.
What is it?
pipx run creates a temporary virtual environment for each app you run without installing it, and keeps it in this cache so the next run starts faster. Entries expire after 14 days in recent pipx versions. The cache lives inside pipx’s home folder (pipx environment shows where); apps installed with pipx install are stored separately in venvs.
What happens if you delete it?
pipx recreates the environment the next time you use pipx run with that app, which takes a few seconds and a download. Installed pipx apps are not affected.
How to remove it properly
Make sure no pipx run command is active, then move ~/.local/pipx/.cache to the Trash with Finder’s Go › Go to Folder…. Leave the venvs folder next to it alone, since it holds your installed apps.
Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.
How MoreRoom helps
MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
