The short answer

Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.

What is it?

Spotify’s PersistentCache: songs it has streamed and cached, plus music downloaded for offline listening. It often grows to several GB, more with large offline downloads.

Cached and downloaded songs. Spotify downloads them again when needed.

What happens if you delete it?

Spotify streams or caches songs again when needed. Offline downloads must be downloaded again before you can listen without a connection.

How to remove it properly

In Spotify, open Settings › Storage and click Clear cache; the same section can remove all downloads as well. Or quit Spotify and move ~/Library/Application Support/Spotify/PersistentCache to the Trash.

From the app itself: Spotify > Settings > Storage > Clear cache.

Before you delete it

Clear downloads only when you are online and do not need offline playback soon.

How MoreRoom helps

MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
