The short answer

No. Your data. Shrink it from its app; don’t delete the folder.

What is it?

Local recordings of Zoom meetings, one folder per meeting with video (.mp4), audio (.m4a) and sometimes a chat file. Long meetings with screen sharing take hundreds of MB each, so the folder grows steadily.

Meetings you recorded. Your files: offload or archive, never deleted automatically.

What happens if you delete it?

Nothing regenerates: unlike cloud recordings, local recordings exist only on this Mac.

How to remove it properly

Review the folders by date and meeting name, copy what you need to an external drive or cloud storage, then move the rest to the Trash. Change where future recordings go in Zoom’s Recording settings.

Better moved to an external drive than deleted.

Before you delete it

A folder containing .zoom files holds a recording that was never converted; open it in Zoom to finish converting before deleting anything.

How MoreRoom helps

MoreRoom recognises this as your data and never suggests deleting it. It shows how much space it takes, so you can shrink it from its own app.
