The short answer
Usually, after a check. Might hold something you care about. Look inside before removing it.
What is it?
A manual (git) install of ComfyUI in your home folder stores models in ~/ComfyUI/models, grouped by type: checkpoints, LoRAs, VAEs, text encoders, upscalers and more. Each model is typically 2–25 GB, so the folder often reaches hundreds of GB.
Checkpoints, LoRAs and other models, by type. Most can be downloaded again but some are hard to find: offload rather than delete.
What happens if you delete it?
Not automatically. Public models can be downloaded again by hand, but some sources disappear, and workflows that reference a missing file stop working.
How to remove it properly
Quit ComfyUI, then move individual model files you no longer use to the Trash. To keep them, move them to an external drive and add that folder to extra_model_paths.yaml so ComfyUI still finds them.
Better moved to an external drive than deleted.
Before you delete it
Your own trained LoRAs and merges are only here unless you backed them up.
How MoreRoom helps
MoreRoom recognises this item and labels it “Review first”: it shows what’s inside, its size and last use, so you can decide. Nothing is removed without your say, and everything goes to the Trash first, with Undo.
