In short
- Download MoreRoom.dmg from moreroom.app/download, open it and drag MoreRoom into the Applications folder.
- MoreRoom is signed and notarized by Apple. The first time you open it, macOS asks you to confirm because it comes from the internet: click Open.
- If macOS refuses to open it, open the copy in Applications (not the one in the disk image), and download the DMG again if macOS says it is damaged.
How to install MoreRoom

- Copy MoreRoom to Applications Drag the MoreRoom icon onto the Applications shortcut and wait for the copy to finish.
- Eject the disk image Control-click MoreRoom in the Finder sidebar or on the desktop and choose Eject. You can then move MoreRoom.dmg to the Trash.
- Open MoreRoom Open MoreRoom from the Applications folder or Launchpad. When macOS asks whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet, click Open.
Before you start
MoreRoom runs on macOS 15 Sequoia or later, on Macs with Apple silicon or Intel. You don’t need an account: the app is free, and you can unlock Pro later with a licence key, in the same app. See System requirements for the details.
Always download MoreRoom from moreroom.app/download. That copy is signed by its developer, Yando Pte. Ltd., and notarized by Apple, and it updates itself automatically.
The first launch
The first time you open MoreRoom, macOS shows a message saying that MoreRoom is an app downloaded from the internet and asks whether you want to open it. This is normal for any app that doesn’t come from the App Store: click Open. macOS only asks once.
MoreRoom then shows a short welcome and asks for Full Disk Access, which lets it measure folders macOS protects. It’s optional, and the next article explains why and how.
If macOS says “MoreRoom can’t be opened”
- You opened the copy inside the disk image. Drag MoreRoom into Applications first, eject the disk image, then open MoreRoom from Applications. An app that runs from a disk image can’t update itself.
- macOS says MoreRoom “is damaged” or “can’t be checked for malicious software”. The download was incomplete or the file was changed after it left our server. Move MoreRoom to the Trash, download it again from moreroom.app/download, and install the new copy. Don’t use “Open Anyway” on a copy that macOS rejects: a genuine copy never needs it.
- macOS says this version of MoreRoom can’t be used with this version of macOS. Your Mac runs a version older than macOS 15 Sequoia. Choose Apple menu › About This Mac to check, and System Settings › General › Software Update to update macOS if your Mac supports it.
Check that your copy is genuine (optional)
If you’re comfortable with Terminal, you can ask macOS how it judges the app:
spctl -a -vv /Applications/MoreRoom.app
A genuine copy answers accepted with source=Notarized Developer ID.
What next
- Grant Full Disk Access so the map includes protected folders.
- Scan your Mac, your home folder or any folder.
- Already bought Pro? Activate your licence.
